Ken has over 25 years experience in all areas of criminal law and criminal appeals and has handled over 4,000 cases and has practised in the Lower Mainland for over 20 years. He is well respected by his colleagues for his knowledge and courtroom skills. Ken has a special interest in cases involving the exercise of police powers such as the execution of search warrants, arrests and warrantless searches, and the use of force by police, including police dogs. Ken has a very high succes rate in any case involving search warrants and has won about 90% of such cases. He has also often successfully defended clients charged with all other types of criminal offences including tax evasion, assault, sexual assault, impaired driving,theft, robbery, etc.
Ken also maintains a busy criminal appeals practice. He has appeared before the British Columbia Court of Appeal on numerous occasions. He has successfully overturned all types of convictions, including murder, robbery and possession of weapons.
Ken graduated from Simon Fraser University in 1984 with a B.A. in Philosophy. He graduated from UBC Law School in 1987 and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1988. Ken is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, the Fraser Valley Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Legal Aid Action Committee.

Jayse graduated from UBC Law School and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2013. Jayse articled with Ken Beatch and practices exclusively in the area of criminal law. Jayse has handled all types of cases and has acted as co-counsel on large drug cases and murder cases. He is enthusiastic about protecting and defending his clients. Jayse has quickly earned the respect of his clients and the courts. Before entering Law School, Jayse lived for four years in Japan where he learned the language and enjoyed the culture.
